Aims and activities of the organisation

Fuhrmann was established in Amsterdam in 1735 and is the world’s oldest wool trading company. Fuhrmann S.A. in Argentina is managed by the Gallia family, which moved their wool business from Biella, Italy in the 1960’s. By 1990, Fuhrmann S.A. joined the Schneider Group – an international group of textile companies producing and processing the most expensive animal fibers. In Argentina, Fuhrmann processes and exports wool and special fibers. Its combing mill located in Trelew, Chubut started its production in 1999. Fuhrmann also owns a farm in the Catamarca province, where fiber from wild vicuñas is obtained and then processed in Trelew.
