Aims and activities of the organisation

The INTA-National Institute of Agricultural Technology is a leading institution in Argentina, focused on research, extension and innovation in agricultural technology. INTA is a decentralized government organization with operational and financial autonomy under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishery. It was created in 1956 and has ever since developed its expertise in research and technological innovation of value chains, regions and territories to improve the competitiveness and sustainable rural development.
The efforts are focused on innovation as a drive of development by integrating capabilities to promote inter-institutional cooperation, the generation of knowledge and technologies oriented and transferred to the rural sector through the extension systems, information and communication.
The institution has a staff of over 7,000 people and has a presence in all five ecoregions of Argentina (Northwest, Northeast, Cuyo, Pampas and Patagonia), through a structure comprising: a central headquarter, 15 regional centers, five research centers, 50 experimental stations, 16 institutes and over 300 extension agencies.
The result of the work of INTA contributes to the efforts of the country to achieve greater potential and opportunities to reach regional and international markets with products and services of high added value.

The role of the organisation in the project

The Instituto Nacional de Tecnologia Agropecuaria (INTA) is a full partner of the EDULIVE project and provides experience as link between research, higher education, producers and processors. INTA leads WP7 in implementation phase II of the cooperation between universities and the livestock sector. In WP1, INTA contributes expertise on demands and needs of research organizations and sector stakeholders that should be included in university curricula on Animal Sciences. In WP2, INTA supports the establishment of cooperation mechanisms between universities and the sector. INTA has a double role as employer of graduates and collaborator with universities on research. The contact to sector stakeholders is an asset for WP5 and WP7. In WP5 and WP7, INTA collaborates with Argentinian universities in higher education as internship host, expert lecturer and by offering field visit opportunities. In WP6 and WP8, INTA is part of the evaluation of new mechanisms and activities implemented by the EDULIVE project, providing lecturers and host experiences.
