Aims and activities of the organisation

UNSAAC is a public university located in Cusco, Peru. It is the third oldest university in Peru, founded in 1692. The university comprises 10 Faculties and 35 academic departments and offers 44 careers in total. The university has about 1289 academic staff members and 777 administrative staff members and has a total number of about 18700 undergraduate students.
The mission of the university is to train professionals of high academic quality, based on humanistic values. Graduates should be competitive, creative and innovative, with a solid basis on values and principles, be able to engage with society within the framework of an integrated process of development of the region and the country. Social, economic, cultural and political aspects, but also the environmentally sustainable development of society is sought.
It is a strategic institution committed to the development of the region and the country.

The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences offers a career in Animal Husbandry. The campus for this college is located in K’ayra (San Jeronimo district) in Cusco. The campus has facilities for academics to provide training for students, but also to perform research. In La Raya the Faculty has a research center working on New World Camelids, fiber quality and reproduction in llamas and alpacas.

The role of the organisation in the project

UNSAAC is a full partner and target organization of the EDULIVE project. UNSAAC leads and coordinates Work Package (WP) 4, in which trainings for lecturers are implemented. As one of the EDULIVE target organizations, UNSAAC is involved in all other work packages. In WP1, it is target of the stakeholder consultation on study programs, but also provides feedback to Argentinian universities. During WP2, it uses its contacts to the livestock sector at large to contribute to the establishment of cooperation mechanisms. In WP3, it supports the preparation of university staff trainings. UNSAAC lecturers are target of WP4, but it will also share its experiences in teaching with the other Argentinian and Peruvian partner universities. In WP5 and WP7, UNSAAC will cooperate with the livestock sector partners in higher education. UNSAAC is involved in the evaluation of new mechanisms and activities implemented by the EDULIVE project (WP6 and WP8), sharing the experience of a target organization.
